Everyone who smokes cigarettes these days knows it is getting more expensive. I just do not think everyone realizes how much they actually spend on this terrible habit. I'm going to put the real numbers on it right now. In New York one pack ranges from $7-$9, more if you live in NYC. If you were to smoke only one pack a day it would cost you $52 a week, $210 a month, and $2,500 a year. Imagine what you could do with that extra money. I work at a minimum wage job and I'm lucky if one of my paychecks in $200, cigarettes would be that one paycheck. Not to mention there is supposed to be yet another hike on the price of cigarettes in the near future.
No, I am not done yet. Everyone also knows that smoking causes countless diseases and death. A few include multiple types of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, complicates pregnancies, heart problems and more. It also takes a toll on your appearance, including yellow teeth, bad odors, increased aging and more. As if that is not enough they contain harmful chemicals such as acetone, ammonia, lead, rat poison an butane. Not to mention all the damage you do with second hand smoke!
Smoking is a harmful habit that everyone should quit ASAP. The longer you wait the harder it will be, the more harm you will have done to your body, more money you have spent, and possible opportunities lost due to cigarettes. It is just not worth it at all.
